Chinese Lunar Date Converter: Gregorian ↔ Lunar
Convert between Gregorian and Chinese lunar dates. Choose a date in the first form, or enter a lunar year, month and day in the second. A leap month is treated separately from the ordinary month with the same number.
Gregorian → Chinese lunar
Chinese lunar → Gregorian
Try these examples
- 6 February 2027 → lunar month 1, day 1.
- Lunar year 2027, regular month 1, day 15 → 20 February 2027.
- 5 April 2027 → lunar month 2, day 29. Qingming follows a solar term rather than a fixed lunar day.
What should I enter as the lunar year?
Enter the Gregorian-numbered year in which that Chinese lunar year begins. For the lunar year beginning on 6 February 2027, enter 2027. Dates near January or February may still belong to the previous lunar year.
Why can a leap-month date return no result?
A leap month does not occur in every year, and only a particular month is repeated when one occurs. Also, some lunar months have 29 days rather than 30. The converter reports when the exact combination does not exist instead of silently changing it.
Coverage and method
Gregorian lookup covers 2020–2060. Reverse lookup covers lunar years 2020–2059 so the following Gregorian year is available in the dataset. The tool searches the website’s calendar records, identifies leap months and determines the lunar year from its Gan-Zhi year label. Dates are looked up locally in your browser after the relevant annual file loads; no paid external API is required.
